Hawkeye #1 (2012) Matt Fraction, David Aja, Matt Hollingsworth

This series is everything I’ve ever wanted in a Hawkeye comic. The art is perfect for the tone this comic sets- it’s almost minimalistic, all thick lines and enough detail to make it really gorgeous, with kind of muted colors but still manages to convey everything perfectly. Clint is spot-on and reading this issue reminded again why he’s one of my absolute favorites. It focuses less on Hawkeye the Avenger and more on Clint Barton the man. This isn’t a story about big, Avengers-level threats either- it’s much more street level. It also doesn’t require any real background knowledge, which is great for new readers. As an already sort of die-hard Hawkeye fan, I can tell it’s already one of my new favorite titles.

The next issue comes out September 5th.
